Speaker praises Beary community’s hard work and pride

Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader highlighted the rich heritage of the Beary people, describing them as a hardworking community that lives with immense self-respect. Speaking at the inauguration of the 3rd Ullal Taluk Beary Sahitya Sammelana in Mudipu, Khader emphasized the importance of passing down cultural traditions to the next generation.

The Speaker noted that languages like Beary, Tulu, and Konkani are unique because they have thrived for thousands of years through speech alone, without relying on written scripts. He called the Beary language a true reflection of the community's personality and culture. Addressing a long-standing request, he promised that technical hurdles regarding the construction of the "Beary Bhawan" would be cleared soon to give the community a dedicated cultural home.

Bashir Ahmed Kinya, the conference chairman and a well-known poet, reminded the audience that a community’s survival is tied directly to its language. "If the language survives, the community survives," he stated, urging everyone to protect their mother tongue.

The event was a colorful celebration of local talent. Speaker Khader released new books, including a poetry collection and a series of articles by local authors. The day began with a grand procession and featured a variety of activities, including poetry sessions, a mehndi competition, and a drama performance. Leaders from the Tulu and Konkani academies also joined the event, showing a strong spirit of unity among the diverse linguistic groups of the district.
